Fred specializes in the best individuals for the downstream petroleum industry and the supplier industry that supports the industry. His unique variety of business expertise, coupled with his knowledge of the western Petroleum, C-Store, and Supplier markets allow him to find outstanding individual to fill positions. These positions include-but not limed to- positions such as executive, finance, sales, operations, human resources, retail (c-store), transportation, procurement, distribution, marketing, and merchandising.
Fred holds a Bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology and a minor in business and sociology. After graduation he joined a Pizza Hut franchise group and was rapidly promoted to positions of ever-increasing levels of responsibilities culminating as a Regional Manager in the southwest directing over 200 units. The company merged with Pizza Hut, Inc., which was later acquired by PepsiCo. Fred continued with PepsiCo as a Division Manager overseeing units in New Mexico, Colorado, West Texas, and Arizona.
Recruited by Wendy’s International as a Franchise Director, Fred worked with single and multiple unit Franchisees within nine (9) Western United States. He later accepted a partnership opportunity, located in the Rocky Mountain region with a struggling Wendy’s franchise group as Director of Operations. While in this position he successfully structured and completed the company’s turnaround including doubling the number of operating units, acquiring complementary businesses, and securing additional territory for development. Fred then moved to the West Coast where he became the COO and Operating Partner for another Wendy’s franchise group. Purchasing 14 stores from bankruptcy, Fred successfully operated and successfully built profitability in order to sell the stores after 5 years of operations.
Fred was recruited and joined UNOCAL as their Retail Systems Development Manager. In this position he was responsible for the coordination and development of all activities relating to their retail sites. After Tosco’s purchase of the California based “76“retail and refining assets, Fred remained in the retail group as a Market Operations Manager working within the Circle K division. He was then promoted to the Branded Retail Group where he coordinated retail activities, coached, and consulted with Dealer, Jobber, and Wholesaler groups in California and Nevada.
Fred, along with 90% of his department, left during the ConocoPhillips merger and helped initiate a Recruiting company with in the downstream petroleum industry. For the last 7 years Fred has utilized his knowledge and contacts becoming well know within the Downstream Petroleum and C-Store Industry for identifying, recruiting, and placing well qualified Candidates. Recently, being recognized as one of the leading Recruiters in the western part of the US, Fred, along with several other well-known industry Recruiters, formed The Recruiting Group LLC.

Roger Ward CPC
Roger brings to the team here at The Recruiting Group a career with more than 20 years’ experience in the convenience store industry with 16 of those years with SuperAmerica in the Midwest. Roger has held positions in operations, marketing, training, loss prevention, food service, and human resources through his career. He attended college at Ohio State University and Columbus State and has a bachelor’s in Business. His experience and education are a well-rounded background to qualify him to be successful in his current career.
After leaving the convenience store industry he started his current career as an executive recruiter specializing in the convenience store industry. Roger started his recruiting career and cultivated his skills at National Executive Personnel. He left NEP and joined a grass roots firm at Executive Leadership Solutions where he spent over 5 years as their top recruiter. Roger then exited ELS and joined Fred Riegle to create The Recruiting Group where he is a principle. The firm is a group of professionals specializing in several segments. Roger specializes in building great relationships through strong ethics and exceeding expectations.
